The Keweenaw Research Center (KRC) is a new office and laboratory building owned by Michigan Tech. The owner selected the team of U.P. Engineers & Architects and Harley Ellis Devereaux to work with the director and staff of KRC to design the new building. HED provided leadership in the schematic design phase resulting in a modern structure expressive of the separate functions within (administration, engineering, and research). UPEA developed the concept into a functional, constructible building that met Michigan Tech’s budget. The building features exposed structure, geo-thermal HVAC system (top photo), and natural daylight and views for all offices.
